Apple has announced the winners of its annual Apple Design Awards, which celebrate 12 best-in-class apps and games. Spanning development teams from around the world, this year’s winners have delivered creative and innovative apps grounded in great design. Six different categories each recognize an app and a game for inclusiveness, joy and fun, interaction, social impact, visuals and graphics, and innovation. The winners were chosen from 36 finalists. “Apps and games are an integral part of how we live, work and play. At Apple, we love to recognize outstanding developers whose apps reflect incredible creativity and design excellence,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. Here are the 12 “Best Designed” apps for iPhone, iPad and more.

App Winner for Inclusivity: Universe — Website Builder

Developed by Universe Exploration Company, Universe — Website Builder app provides simple website building tools and options and makes website building possible for everyone. This app allows users to create their own showcase, artist home, community group page, and even personal web presence.

Inclusivity Game Winner: Stitch.

Developed by Lykke Studios, Stitch is an Apple Arcade title with cross-generational appeal. The game offers its users a relaxing and meditative embroidery art. It supports multiple languages ​​and customized accessibility options for people with color blindness, low vision and motion sensitivity, everyone can join in the fun.

Delight and Fun App Winner: Duolingo

Duolingo, despite being nearly a decade old, continues to add new features and tools to offer a comprehensive approach to language learning through a redesigned experience and the introduction of new courses for endangered, indigenous and fictional languages.

Delight and fun game winner: Afterplace

Afterplace is developed by Evan Kice. It’s an RPG with a modern twist, nostalgia, humor and exploration. The game is designed for mobile devices and supports swipes and taps as input instead of virtual buttons. There is also a one-handed mode on offer.

Interaction App Winner: Flighty

Flighty is an all-in-one app for flights. The app offers detailed flight maps, airport navigation and delay forecasts. The app offers initiative interface with comprehensive live maps to make traveling with flights hassle-free. The app thoughtfully integrates Apple technology, including Siri Shortcuts, Apple Maps, Live Activity and more, to keep travelers covered every part of their journey.

Interaction Game Winner: Railbound

Developed by Afterburn, the Railbound game features an easy-to-use interface and offers an input experience that leaves out words, points, and menu navigation. Railbound is a refined puzzle game that’s easy to pick up and hard to put down.

Social Impact App Winner: Headspace

Headspaces is an app designed to bring awareness to the masses. The app features a thoughtful design and minimalistic user interface. Users can choose from a number of different voices to guide them through the app’s extensive content catalog suitable for a range of needs, from lengthy guided sessions to a five-minute clarity break. It also has Apple Watch integration.

Social Impact Game Winner: Endling

Finish a side-scrolling game that has players as a fox fighting to navigate a land charred by environmental disaster and human impact. Players are given the opportunity to create an immediate sense of empathy and connection with the main character. The game offers simple controls for better gaming experience.

Graphics and Graphics App Winner: Any Distance

“Any Distance” is a state-of-the-art workout tracker, which offers its users shareable and dynamic graphics. The app takes full advantage of live activities and Apple Watch integrations to collect and present fitness data, which can include not only traditional workouts like running and cycling, but also wheelchair exercises, stroller runs and walks, and rides on a recumbent bike.
